Axe Valley are fortunate enough to have a supportive team of vets, nurses and administrative staff, many of whom have been with us for an extended period. All our staff are here to help with all your pets needs and are happy to help in providing a 24 hour service 365 days a year.

Lou studied at the Royal Veterinary College (RVC) in London She graduated in 1996. Lou initially worked in mixed practices in Mid Wales and Shropshire, before coming to Axe Valley in 1998. Lou became a Director in 2007.

Lou studied at Southampton University for her Post Graduate diploma in Companion Animal Behaviour Counselling.

Before Lou's leg gave way, she was one of the first female rugby union referees in the country, and refereed all over the south of England.

Lou has three rescue dogs, one mad collie called Meg, an ex-puppy farm cocker spaniel Gwen and Kira a Chalkie. Her weekends are spent trying wear both them and her children out! Her two cats "Trouble" and "Strife" live up to their names and are well known in the village for their antics.

Imogen grew up surrounded by animals in Somerset and becoming a vet was always her vocation. After completing her qualifications at the University of Nottingham Imogen was keen to return to Axe Valley where she previously spent time as a student; and was thrilled to join the team in July 2018.

Imogen loves the outdoors, be it skiing or exploring new walking routes around the UK. She also enjoys experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen, often watched eagerly by her dog Tilly, and rescue cats Pheobe and Paloma

Harriet Luker-Coombs

Veterinary Surgeon

Harriet qualified in 2011 from the Royal Veterinary College in London. She spent her first 18 months in a mixed practice in Lincolnshire splitting her time between small animal, farm and equine.

Harriet joined Axe Valley in January 2013 and became our Clinical Vet Manager in 2018. Her special interests are Surgery, Opthalmology and Diagnostics Imaging. Harriet is often found assisting our visiting special surgeons at every opportunity.

In Harriet's spare time she enjoys spending time with her Labrador Dotty, Cavalier Nora, going to the gym, or on her husband's dairy farm.

Emily joined the Practice in August 2011 as a Nursing Assistant and went on to become a Qualified Veterinary Nurse in December 2015. She is now a Clinical Coach and is currently training Lacey in practice. In her spare time Emily plays hockey for Cheddar and enjoys spending time with her dog and 2 cats.

Helen is based at our cheddar surgery and has been part of the team since 1991, having also experienced another practice 2 years prior to that straight from leaving school. Helen has 2 children and walking her dogs is her passion.

Lynda joined the Axe Valley team 5 years ago assisting with reception duties. She is based at our Cheddar branch surgery and has many years of admin experience having worked in a veterinary practice in the past.

Alice is new to the Cheddar reception team, joining in February 2019 to fill in for Dixie whilst she is away on maternity leave. She is an avid reader when she gets the chance, as most her time is spent with her animals, including her cockapoo's, Boris and Buster, her 3 cats, donkeys, Shetland ponies, horse, chickens and doves. You may see her in the village walking the naughty ponies: Tinker and Belle.
