The situation with Covid-19 Coronavirus has changed quickly.

In response to this, we are adapting the way we offer our services to you to make sure we are still serving the community we exist within.

Feel free to share with friends if they need help during this time - we are really busy at the moment and will always prioritise our existing clients, but if you know someone who is unable to get distanced help, then we will, of course, be there for them.


Latest Update (3rd November 2020)

Axe Valley Vets are trying our best to provide as much normality as possible for you all and will continue to provide care for all of your pets. We do please ask that you bear with us in this difficult time.

We would like to re assure you that we are not closing our doors during the lockdown.
After hearing the announcement from Boris at the weekend, we have been waiting for instruction from the veterinary governing bodies as to what appointments/ operations can still go ahead. At this moment in time, we do not have to cancel any appointments or procedures, and we are not expecting to have to do so this time around. If you have an appointment already booked, come along as usual.

We are continuing to receive regular updates from The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons and The British Veterinary Association and following their guidelines.

We are offering appointments at all of our surgeries and are able to provide all routine operations at both our Blackford and Wells Branches, but a limited number will be booked in per day.

We are allowing a limited number of clients into the building, ensuring the government guidelines are met. When you arrive at the surgery please let us know that you are here for your appointment, and we will let you know when it is safe for you to come in the building. We ask that one owner attends the appointment, a mask must be worn at all times, and hand sanitiser used when entering the building. Social distancing should be maintained where possible. If you would prefer to not enter the building then please let us know on arrival, and our clinical team will to their best to perform the consultation inside.


We are still offering telephone and video consultations too, these consultations are chargeable at the time of consultation and if the vets deem it necessary for us to organise a physical exam of your pet, no further consult charge will be applied.

If you are asked by one of our vets to attend for an appointment, please follow all social distancing protocols we have in place.

The practice will advise you on our current protocols for when you arrive at the practice, depending on the level of risk, prior to attending the surgery.

You will now be able to collect any medications, flea and wormers and food from any of our surgeries, but we ask you to check our opening times before you attend. Bearing this is mind please do call your branch before collecting and allow us extra time for these to be provided, due to the overstretched supply chain.

We’ve introduced a brand NEW VIDEO CONSULTATION service so you can have an appointment with one of the vets at Axe Valley Vets from the comfort of your home.

You can now book a live VIDEO CONSULTATION by mobile phone with one of our fantastic vets.

➡️ We’ll book a time slot for a 15 min video call and talk you through the simple process, and set up an invitation for a video consultation.

➡️ We’ll send you a link via text or email to download the video software to your phone or device.

⚡What will happen during the video consultation?

➡️ The vet will discuss your pet’s condition and if possible make an assessment and advise how to treat it. Medication may be dispensed.

➡️ If we deem necessary we may advise that an appointment at the practice is required and we will schedule one.

Home Delivery

Delivery of your pet’s meds and food just

We have worked quickly to find a HOME DELIVERY solution to ensure your best friend is safe and up-to-date on their flea and worm medicines.

The best bit... you don’t need to do anything except call us to order your repeat prescription!

➡️ Please give us at least 5 days notice if you need more medication to allow time to order and deliver / post your medication.

➡️ If you prefer you can still collect your medications from any of the branches above.

➡️ If you live further afield, we will post medications to you and the cost of postage will be added to the cost of the medication. There is a small charge for delivery to local clients - FREE for Four Paws Family Plan members.

⚡If you need MEDICINES QUICKLY we’ve thought of that too.

➡️ If we have dispensed medications for your pet as a result of a video consultation and they need collecting promptly, we will contact you to schedule a time to collect the medications. We will take payment over the phone at the time of booking.
